Lindsey knows not to ask her mom for help with math homework. Not because Mom’s bad at it, but because she’s too good. She sees numbers, and has no patience with how Lindsey doesn’t know right away what five by five is.
So she’s glad now that Nick’s around all the time, because when Mom is huffing with exasperation, he sits beside her with a smile and ruffles her hair, saying something like, “Don’t worry Peanut, I was never good at math either. Let’s see what we’ve got here…”
It’s like she’s got a dad again, and she likes it.
