A stranger might be alarmed at the sight; a man and woman clearly arguing in the middle of the layout room, their countenances speaking to deeper feelings than objective interpretation of the evidence.

 

Techs and criminalists alike just walk on by. “It’s Warrick and Sara,” they say. “Some things never change.”

 

In that they’ve been fighting since they met, everyone is right. But now when they kiss and make up, they do so literally. She holds no grudges, but lets him hold her hand, and he doesn’t gamble, because he’s already won.

 

Some things never change.

 

But some things do.
