She thought when she met him that she'd found the love of her life, thought that given time and space, he'd realise it too.
She thought he had when he called her, said he needed her in Vegas.
She was wrong.
For nearly three years, they worked side by side. He talked to her of forensics, of beauty, told her that she knew how to light up a room, sent her a plant.
She thought that meant something.
She was wrong.
One day, he called her honey, and she asked him out for dinner, thinking he'd say yes.
