She waits impatiently for the rest of her life to begin, smoothing absently the skirt of the dress that Catherine swore was perfect, wishing that things could just get underway. She's been planning this day for so long, and she knows just how it's going to go, knows exactly what will happen.

In a few minutes, her father will walk her down the aisle, and as she moves, she'll see all the people who matter most to her in the world.

Her mother will be in the front pew with her brother, each of them wearing wide smiles at the sight that they never thought they'd see. At some point or another, her mother will doubtless shed a tear, and her brother will hand her the handkerchief that he's told Sara that he was bringing just for that specific purpose.

Behind them will be the man that once upon a time she thought she might end up marrying, the man who's responsible for bringing her to Las Vegas, and thus indirectly responsible for today. Grissom will sit, his face impassive but his eyes smiling, and it will be his job to pass handkerchiefs to Catherine, who, like Mom, will be smiling and crying at the same time.

Beside them will be Nick and Greg, two men she loves like brothers, smiling wicked smiles, and she'll exchange nervous looks with her new husband at the altar because they'll both wonder what they have in store for them on their wedding night.

In the next pew will be Doc Robbins, who'll look on the whole thing with a paternal smile, his wife beside him. Beside them will be Brass, who'll spend the whole service looking as if he, a tough homicide detective from Jersey, couldn't care less about this whole thing, but who will be beaming on the inside.

But most importantly, her father will kiss her on the cheek and leave her standing beside him, the man with whom she's going to spend the rest of her life. She'll have a special smile for him, and she'll turn back with another one for the woman who raised him, the only woman who might just cry more than her mother. Grams will attempt to smile back at her, her green eyes so familiar, and Sara will turn back to Warrick, taking his hand in hers, before promising in front of this select group of people to love and honour him for the rest of her life.

She can't wait.
