"You look pensive dear."
His hands are on her shoulders and the light words are Giles-speak for a thousand questions she can't answer, so Anya settles for leaning into his touch.
"It's been a year," she non-answers quietly.
"Yes. I know."
A year since Sunnydale was destroyed.
Since all Slayers had been activated.
Since they'd lost Xander.
"Is it wrong?" she turns to ask pleadingly now. "This? Us?"
He smiles, touches her cheek, then reaches down, fingers her engagement ring. "No," he whispers. "Xander would want you to be happy."
She nods, says words unthinkable a year ago. "I am."
