Giles stands in his kitchen, stares out at the rustling leaves and smiles; reminded once again of how much he's missed the English autumn foliage.
As he watches, one breaks free, lazily approaching the window. It's a rich, auburn colour, the exact shade of her hair, and suddenly, he's missing her all over again.
He knows the futility of his feelings, knows she has someone. Knows that even if she didn't, a beautiful young woman like Willow deserves more than a man in the autumn of his life.
He knows, but still he watches the leaves fall, and he wishes.
