Listening In
Pairing: Tony/Abby
Notes: For the LiveJournal NCISDrabble “Phone call
with dialogue/no dialogue” challenge
He is not,
Tony tells himself, eavesdropping, even if he can hear every word of Abby’s
conversation. After all, she didn’t step
out of the room when the phone rang, isn’t making any attempt to keep her voice
down.
He gleans
that she’s being told something about her father, something not good, and when she
hangs up the phone, a dreadful silence falls over the lab. She slowly turns to
him, face pale under pale make-up, eyes red-rimmed, and without her saying
anything, he knows what’s happened.
He doesn’t
speak, just goes to her and holds her as she cries.
