Perennial

Author: Jeanine
Notes: For the LiveJournal WAT100 "Ten Years" challenge. This, both show and knowledge of community, is all Bronagh's fault.

For the last ten years, he's been coming here, standing in this spot, a cold wind blowing leaves around his ankles, but not chilling him to the bone.

Words written on cold stone do that instead.

For ten years, he's been coming here, and when he can't see the words for the tears in his eyes, he tilts his head back, allowing the tears to fall.

He looks at the sky, and he looks at the stars and he calls them by name, and he waits for the loneliness to fade, for the guilt to go away.

It never does.
