Worlds 2006
Original Dance
Skipping the first two groups because I need to have some time with my family this week….
We start off with great timing and –
11 Sinead KERR / John KERR GBR 12 30.02
What a perfectly horrible draw! She’s in a halter necked light blue sparkle dress, he’s all in black, with sparkles, deep V on the chest and the hair all slicked back, sans headband. Cha-cha, rhumba, samba… nice reaction from the crowd as they come out… start miles away from one another… go towards one another.. meet at centre and shimmy… lots of speed… as he dips her and pulls her through his legs… to the boards for straight line step… and my heart is in my mouth but twizzles are fine both sets…thank you lord!!! Steps where he pulls her around as she grips his waist, dips her right on the music… music changes… and she goes through his legs… steps, lift with him in squat and she lying, and she flips over in the lift…nice… diagonal step… nicely done.. I’m grinding my teeth with nerves here…dance spin… good centring, change of position… samba steps… and samba rolls… steps and shimmies… lift with her lying back and he’s holding her horizontally and they are done and that was great!!! Both of them are beaming… Chris thinks this is the first time we’ve seen anything a little bit different here… says they reflected the character of the music… they were really close together on some of the steps, deep changes of edge… Chris thinks there not the sparkle from Sinead at the start of the program, he’s thinking nerves?
Marks TE 27.24 PCS 24.08, 51.32, new PB and 81.34. They lead. Let us all cross our fingers that it stays that way… and I think MamaNicky just goes “If only it could stay like that”… did I hear that????
12 Nozomi WATANABE / Akiyuki KIDO JPN 17 28.47
White pants for him, fluorescent pink and yellow jacket type shirt for him, and she’s in pink and yellow fluorescent nightmare of a dress and it causes me no end of joy to realise that this is the very last time I will have to see that monstrosity. I can’t believe she’s 35… cha cha rhumba samba… he slides to her... and straight line step to begin… good unison, but slower than the Kerrs… twizzles are top drawer. And they stop right on the music to rhumba… steps around, and she leans against him in a glide… and then he hydroblades and she leans against him, knee turning on the ice… lift with him in squat, her leaning back… into the dance spin… and stop, to the samba… plenty of energy and selling it… steps sequence… and it’s quite slow got, not to mention it’s been quite open all the way through… and lift with him in hydro, her in biellman lying back on him… and they are done. Chris really enjoyed it... but has questions over the tech content… there were moments in diagonal step where he thought they were going to do an Argentine tango; says they have to start pushing. This for him was a junior program, mentions it was very open in places… we see the lift again, spin could have been quicker… also mentions last step sq was slow along the ice… Chris and I appear to be sharing a brain tonight so far!!! Natalia Linichuk seems to have borrowed one of Navka’s headbands…
Marks TE 26.45 PCS 20.37 and 46.82 and second place, 75.29.
13 Nora HOFFMANN / Attila ELEK HUN 18 28.47
Fluorescent tangerine dress for her, halter necked with sparkles on the neck and chest, and long gloves…my TV screen hates the colour. He’s all in black, with sparkles on the front going down to the waist, and on the back, at the end of the top. Chris and Simon repeated in warm up the rumours that they’re going to split up after this; Chris says that they’re going nowhere in the rankings and that with the right guy she could be something special. Oooh and the dress has a Proud Mary fringe… that’s not helping….cha cha rhumba samba… he looks about ten… shimmy on centre ice… to something that’s used for vitamin ads this side of the pond, so oh well… straight line step… quite far apart… and the tech is good and the unison is good but … rotational lift where she leans back with skate to head… stops bang on the music… and change and into the dance spin… she’s selling it anyway… him slightly less so. have they looked at one another at all??? Him in besti, her lying back perpendicular to him… and hydroblade, her leaning all over him… music changes now, and into the steps. Diagonal step… motoring along and good content… steps back to near centre and they’re done with her in the splits and I do not think he looked at her at all… Simon thinks if this a relationship coming to a close you wouldn’t have known it there… I personally beg to differ. Says they’re the same height, is a problem, says it’s the best he’s seen them skate… Chris says they’ve obviously done work on the dance floor, thinks eye contact between them was lacking, they didn’t dance with each other…Chris, marry me!!! There he was bit there, him in the besti, her leaning back in biellman, and he runs his hand down her chest – quite a sensuous move, no??? He *didn’t look at her*!!! He was looking off to the side! Where was the connection??? It was like looking at Wotzel and Steuer circa 1996! Smiles in kiss and cry…she’s joking with the coach, Attila is just there…
Marks TE 25.53 PCS 20.57 which puts them behind JPN with 46.10 and 74.57… third place.
14 Christina BEIER / William BEIER GER 13 29.67
He’s in bright Tigger orange suit which is as horrid as it sounds, her dress is a more muted orange… but then we have the red fringe skirt. I’m not sure I can take two more hours of these costumes! *whimpers* Mambo, rhumba, samba… she looks nervous. Oh lord…it’s the Chihuahua song… steps around as I cry… straight lines step…twizzles are good… out of synch n second set… and it went end to end with the steps, to their credit, good steps too… and music change, into dance spin… to slow part nicely done, but only the one position in it… steps with twizzles that aren’t as together as the first set… down centre ice to lift, him in besti, her at waist level with skate to head… music change, shimmy at centre ice… steps sequence is flying around the ice, circular in pattern, she jumps on him and does the splits, legs parallel to the ice, in a blindingly fast rotational lift, and that’s them… I kinda liked that. Costumes aside. And mambo music aside. A Martin Scotnicky pair… and I notice William has tassels on his shirt, red to match her skirt, but they get lost in the orange of his costume… Chris sings the Melancholy Lament of Lack of Innovation, but says it was fast and energetic, which it was… coach was nearly over the boards with them… watching him is nearly as entertaining as watching them!!! Simon says there was more chemistry between them than the Hungarians, and these are brother and sister! I giggle, for it is true.
Marks TE 25.33 PCS 21.49, for 46.82 identical to Japanese, 76.49 overall, and second overall.
15 Morgan MATTHEWS / Maxim ZAVOZIN
Black pants and dark green and fluorescent green top for him, with fluorescent green belt, her dress is shades of green and fluorescent green… and seems to be made up of wrappings of those colours with much flesh net…cha cha and samba, 18 and 21… lots of shimmying at centre ice to begin… and around to boards and straight line step… twizzles are well out of whack… and second set not much better… and it was slow along the ice in a way not entirely accounted for by music… him in hydroblade, her in biellman, good lift… stop right on music, wave arms to drums and into the dance spin, good speed… and a nice change of position, she does a biellman in it, but it slows noticeably… step sequence… seem quite far apart… but diagonal is sharper than they’ve looked all program… and lift rotational with her at waist level with skate to the head… steps at centre ice on the spot and they’re done. Simon calls it a little disjointed in patches, esp the beginning… Chris concurs… untidy through midline step, felt Maxim was rushing a little? He thinks back spin was slow in the combo… on diagonal step, he thought some more work could have been done on lines, lots of it done on one foot, he thinks they need to focus on the free leg… often they didn’t match.
Marks TE 25.23 PCS 20.36 for 45.59 and 74.68 and fourth place for them, Japanese have moved in front of them and she, in particular, does not look amused.
Sinead and John leave, and Simon wants to stop the event. This? Is me not being surprised.
Warm-Up Group 4
16 Nathalie PECHALAT / Fabian BOURZAT FRA 15 29.31
Mostly red for her, but pieces of yellow and blue around middle, and bobbles on her halter necked top of the same… he’s in white trousers mostly red shirt, and there are flowers of blue and yellow on it… samba rhumba salsa… steps to begin, and then the straight line step… which has good steps but get further apart from one another and I’m not sure what in the world it has to do with the music that’s on… music changes, and they vamp on centre ice… rotational lift with her bent over at the waist and he holds her out by one arm…. And then another one, him in spread, her right up straight …. Dance spin nicely done to the music which sounds like And I Love Her in Spanish… step sequence… methinks… he does hydroblade lean, she kicks leg up and leans against him… music changes and he drums on her back… into the diagonal step now… quite close together for parts of that… though I will say the slower section favoured them… bump and grind on centre ice and they’re done. Simon loved that. I do be disagreeing… Chris also enjoyed it, he thinks it was the best so far. And just like that, our love affair, it is over. Chris sings the praises of the French male ice dancers, can create speed from nothing etc etc… she struggles to keep same sort of depth of edges as he does… yeah I really don’t think we saw the same program!!!
Marks TE 26.97 PCS 21.31 for 48.28, they second, with 77.59.
17 Kristin FRASER / Igor LUKANIN AZE 14 29.40
Black for him, with gold sparkles on the collar, and high collar at that. Her dress is orange frills and flesh sparkles over net, cha cha rhumba samba the music… sway is the music to begin and lots of energy as they go to the boards for the straight line step… twizzles they seem to get far apart on, but the rest f it is fine, done slowly and deliberately… steps to centre with much kicking from her and kneeling and turning from him… music changes and into the diagonal step… fits in with the music and I like it… lift with him in besti leaning back, she’s leaning back holding her skate blades through his legs… dance spin… nice speed, good change of position not much travelling on that… music changes again, and dance steps as he ruffles her skirt which is hard when it’s tassels and fringe… she grabs her skate blade as he lifts her and rotational lift with her lying back in biellman…down and steps and he slides under her legs, but of shimmy and they’re done. Chris thinks they’ll suffer because they didn’t really attack the first section… thinks they could have attacked esp the s/s step sequence more… he loved the lift… and the rotational lift but inserts a bit of snark re the skate to the head – “the position we’ve seem all night.”
Marks TE 25.65 PCS 21.27 and 46.92 which has them behind French on the night, 76.32, they’re fourth…
18 Jana KHOKHLOVA / Sergei NOVITSKI RUS 11 31.10
He’s all in black, the odd sparkle. She’s in fluorescent tangerine, cut out on the right hand hip… he’s rocking the deep cut out on the chest… miss their musical choices… but it’s a slow piece to begin… and a dance spin… nice and fast and not the straight line step, I think I love them! Chris calls the spin impressive… and I was, dead fast good positions, centred… steps with both in bestis… and down the ice in straight line… twizzles are all the way off… lots of energy still! He does the splits… and lift with him in squat, her leaning back, balanced on his knees, holding her skate blades… and slide to stop… dance on the spot… and off again samba by the sounds of it, lots of energy… and no, this the straight line step… and yikes huge mistakes from her on the twizzles… and taking time getting into it… lift where she’s holding skate blade in biellman, his arm is through the loop and he’s holding her out and spinning her and that’s them done. Chris says not a comfortable performance, but from midline step, once she lost balance on the twizzles, it was all over the place… yeah, she puts the foot down, wrong part of the skate, couldn’t get into the ice on the back foot either… she kept selling the ending of it though… have adv of a full mark over the Brits from the compulsories and Simon has his calculator out!
Marks TE 23.75 PCS 22.79 ouch. 46.54 and that’s them in 77.64, second… Brits still lead.
19 Alexandra KAUC / Michal ZYCH POL 19 26.82
Red dress for her, sparkles on the chest, oval cut out (small) in the middle… handkerchief hemline and I like it. He’s all in black, shirt has sparkles on it and belt of sparkles… their third worlds… 26 and 23… salsa, rhumba, salsa… she skates to him, goes under his legs… into the dance spin, with lots of travel, good speed, and her in biellman position… change of position… second spin was better. Off they go, around the ice… and she leans back over his leg… and steps and little dip… and lift with him in besti, her leaning back with skate to the head… music speeds and spins, off in steps… good changes of hold and position, diagonal step… close together in places on that… when they’re close they’re very close! Boards and the straight line step… he’s faster than her on twizzles both times… back to centre, rotational lift with her held out to his side, leg held up behind her… and they’re done. Looked like hard graft say the lads… couple of occasions says Chris where he thought they were doing different programs! We see position n the curved lift again… Simon notes Russians were sixth on the original dance… Chris sings the Happy Ditty of Actual Movement on that one. Back to these, he says second half of program had more finesse than first.
Marks TE 25.30 PCS 18.94 for 44.24 and that gives them 71.06 and ninth place overall.
20 Elena ROMANOVSKAYA / Alexander GRACHEV RUS 20 26.33
All black for him, many sparkles on his chest to give a green sparkly half sunburst effect… she’s in mostly black, sunburst of sparkles also on her chest, and pink sparkles on her shoulder on the right. Both 21, rhumba cha cha, samba… start off with him twirling her out and yanking her back… and steps around, with nice drop and dip into dance spin, nice position and speed, change of foot and position… good. Straight line step… very sharp… twizzles are really good, second pass not as secure from him… lift upside down, her skate to head, him going forwards on one foot… music changes now… and plenty of flailing and stepping… lots of speed… diagonal step… down the ice … more good unison and good steps… dance hold steps… dip where he goes over her. then lift with her leaning back upside down in biellman him in besti… and vamp and they’re done and I loved that!!! They looked like they had a good time, and this girl can sell a program… Simon says she looked like she had a great time out there… Chris is trying to remember the last time a Russian team came into worlds and came in down in twentieth place… most of them come in and hover right around the top ten… Chris thinks he struggled with some of his technique, to get the weight over the skate, looked uncomfortable in midline step but he settled down as it went on, so he’s putting it down to nerves…
Marks TE 25.46 PCS 19.71 for 45.17 and 71.50 and they’re ninth, so they’ve moved up a place over the Poles.
Kerrs, Khokhlova, Pechelat are the one-three at the moment…
Warm-Up Group 5
21 Federica FAIELLA / Massimo SCALI ITA 9 32.60
Yellow dress for her, his jumpsuit is
yellow on the back, black on sleeves and black pants…another deep V on the
chest… cha cha, rhumba, samba… he has 46 on his hip, why? No back on her dress
either… start with steps down the length of the rink… then back up in midline…
twizzles are mistake made, she put her foot down, and dress caught in heel on
second pass but it didn’t bother her… there’s trailing raggy bits coming down
that did it… change of music… steps where she’s dipping under his legs and her
feet flying look untidy… lift with him in besti and her behind him all twisted
up… dance spin where he does and holds a Y spin for ages, nice speed, good
changes of position… much flailing when music changes to samba.. steps
sequence… down the diagonal… and now they’re selling it… and lift with her in
splits and holding onto his neck, change of hold and down, that the rotational
lift, and they are done. Big smile from her… and they look so much happier than
they did at
Marks TE 26.59 PCS 24.83 for 51.42 tenth of a point ahead of Sinead and John, 84.02, they lead at the moment.
22 Oksana DOMNINA / Maxim SHABALIN RUS 7 34.11
Bright blue pants for him, white shirt, red and blue pattern on the sleeve edge, and belt… her dress is red and white fading mix with Proud Mary effect, and sparkles on the chest… rhumba and salsa the music… she kicks her leg up in a split and turns and I gasp at how flexible she is… straight line step with twizzles out of synch, second set are better… nice, Chris says amazing control… him in besti, her balancing on one knee on his thigh, other leg up… and steps around, and going in front and behind of one another, he spins her around on the spot in steps and pulls her close, nearly too hard! Really using the music well… dance spin after change music is nice and fast, gets slower on change, and travels? Steps along diagonal now, lots of speed… and arms are flailing… rotational lift, her facing him in biellman and it’s blindingly fast… put her down, she spins away from him, and then back to him and they’re done. The second they are Simon breaks out the “Oh yeah” so I think he liked it… and he’s in full rapture now… so is Chris, and to be fair, I loved it too… Chris thinks it’s the best they performed it all season, thinks it a good idea to go with the two rhythms in that… deep knee bends, always in unison… he says it’s light years better than anything we’ve seen so far…
Marks TE 28.43 PCS 26.63 for 55.06 and they lead, with 89.17.
23 Megan WING / Aaron LOWE CAN 8 32.90
Lovely orange-red dress for her, silver sparkles as a halter neck… he’s in black, pants and shirt, the place goes wild for them… from Vancouver, mambo rhumba salsa… and dance and shimmy to begin… and the speed of them around the ice… lots of turns from each of them… start off with diagonal step, thank you for being different!!! Really crisp and sharp… kiss into slide, and change of music… and slide to stop, and dance on the spot, and off again… lift with her doing the splits and one leg up behind as he glides… and dance spin… her with skate to head… change position… and stop, change music… and here we go, sell this! La Vida Loca…straight line step… little far apart, but get it back, good unison… and that was great! Crowd love it and they smile… rotational lift with her lying back in biellman and that was great!!! People are standing and if I were there I surely would, for I broke my typing speed so that I could clap when they finished… adore! Love! Excellent excellent excellent and that for me was in first place. I might be alone in that, or hopelessly biased, but that bothers me not at all… Chris says roar when they finished their step seq was deafening… thinks too much repetition in first step seq, esp towards the end, could have pushed themselves more in the spins… see this is why we need him here, so that he grounds me when I get carried away! They don’t think it as good as Russians…
Marks TE {long wait} 27.88 PCS 24.66 52.54 and new PB. 85.44 has them second.
24 Marie-France DUBREUIL / Patrice LAUZON CAN 2 38.31
Gorgeous cream dress for her, with the sparkles on the chest… he’s all in black with the silver sash of a neck scarf and accents on the cuffs… and I love these *SO* much so I’m saying nothing! Oh god… please… please… *prays* We see Megan in K&C clapping as they come out, that’s so classy!!!! Skate out hand in hand… they changed the lift they fell on…. Start with her leaning back and he pulls her up… and she can shimmy… steps around, lots of speed… start with straight line step… neat as a pin and the twizzles in synch enough to make me weep… spin as he knee slides on the ice… she leans against him… and off again, turning circles around one another… ina bauer like moves… lift with her up on his hip standing up and him going forwards on one foot… nifty… he dips her back… and into the dance spin… nice and fast… and really well centred. Change of foot and position and also well centred… more steps… samba rolls… kicks to the side… and diagonal step... looks to have lost a little speed? And lift and that’s very like the one they fell on and they are done… and people are standing and they share a long look at centre ice and I melt! I also clap… Simon didn’t like transitions from one rhythm to another… and oh I loved that… beautiful skating he says… Chris says it was ungainly in places but on the whole a great performance, took the rule book and pushed it all the time… first step seq good and really difficult, kept unison all the way through and difficult… combo spin more difficult as they were side by side… straight line lift was brilliant… she looks so amazing up there! And the lift rotational at the end and Chris says the same as me, looks exactly the same as Olympics!
Marks TE 30.33 PCS 29.48 59.81 overall, and they lead with 98.12… time will tell how good that is but it’s so nice to see her smile!!!!
25 Galit CHAIT / Sergei SAKHNOVSKI ISR 6 34.77
I’m sure no ostriches were harmed in the making of her skirt, though I’m equally sure PETA members are foaming at the mouth… she’s got no back to the dress, and a pink high neck and belt of sparkles in pink… he’s in white shirt, brown trousers, and his hair is muchly highlighted… there is collar of pink sparkles and piping going down the front of the shirt… oh my word. His hair is not blonde. It is yellow. It is the yellow of brass and buttercups and other yellowy yellow things. Missed their rhythms as was searching for yellow things… lots of speed around the ice… and straight line step… great unison good deep edges… and loss of unison on the twizzles… get It back on second set… and he turns her on one knee on the ice… spin her on the ice… music changes, steps around, into the dance spin well held, but only one position on it… she does biellman lying down as he does forward shoot the duck, she’s wrapped around him… diagonal step… music changes steps in dance hold… they pick out the nuances very well… lift with her braceletted around him and he’s spinning her, she does the splits and down he squats beside her and the are done. Very very good… and I have not an earthly what the judges are going to do with that… samba was the last tune, suited them to a tee, Chris has question marks on the rhumba… not their best rhythm, see twizzles on the sky cam… Chris thinks the skirt is too much, amen, hallelujah! He thinks it ruins the lines, doesn’t add to anything they are doing… yes yes and dearie me yes!
Marks TE 26.95 PCS 27.64 for 54.59 and 89.36 has them in second place overall, but the Russians are above them on the original dance.
Warm-Up Group 6
26 Isabelle DELOBEL / Olivier SCHOENFELDER FRA 4 37.30
White shirt for him, yellow belt and headband for him, her dress is yellow with gold sparkles and net on the chest, and cut outs on the side… mambo, rhumba, mambo… starts with them kneeling and leaning back away from one another…shimmy as they come up… and little steps to the side… steps around… good holds and changes there… to the boards, for the straight line step… twizzles are good, second set far apart… not sure of Olivier on them somehow… and music change and he dips her on centre ice… and besti squat, her lying right back perpendicular to him… and steps along the diagonal done to slow beat… really using the music well… such smooth flow and control… and into dance spin nice position but only one of them… change of music again… steps to lift, her in splits parallel to ice as he spins her… steps where he spins her… and steps and they’re done, both kneeling leaning back on the ice… lots of energy, Simon calls it excellent… he’s always confident when they’re on the ice… Chris loved it too… praises their fundamentals, has the basics right, can get their weight over any part of the skate and they’ll be all right, kept the unison going… midline step… see from sky cam the first pass very good but we don’t see the second… we see the lifts though, as Chris bigs up their free dance…
Marks TE 30.35 PCS 29.67 for 60.02 97.32 second overall but in the lead on the night… now that is an upset says Chris and I yelp. Loudly. I’m stunned.
27 Albena DENKOVA / Maxim STAVISKI BUL 1 38.46
Fluorescent pink/tangerine dress, no back, sparkles on left side of chest, he’s in black with sparkles on the back and V of sparkles on the front, huge collar and big cut out on the chest… salsa, rhumba, salsa… vamp at the side of the ice… and off we go in a straight line step, colour me stunned… out of synch on twizzles and second set don’t look quite in time either… and that just looked a little untidy for me. Either that or I’m seeing what I want to see… slow section now, he does spread, holds her behind him, then does a knee turn on the ice… steps now, and diagonal step, good deep edges, lots of it seems to be open… lift with her right the way up, arms around his neck, facing ice, him in spread… dance spin… good change of position… and change music again… steps down the length of the ice… lots of energy, lots of splits, into a spin where she’s facing down and away from him, he’s holding her by the legs, and they’re done… nice applause from the crowd… nigh on perfect says Simon, quibbles with moments where they were not exactly together on the steps… have they done enough to hold on to first place? Chris couldn’t stop smiling… I’m sure I’ll enjoy it more when I watch it back without my head spinning…Chris has never seen them skate with such vitality, were giving it so much that it was right on the verge of being a mess…
Marks TE 31.19 PCS 29.75 for a substantial lead… 60.94 and 99.40, they lead.
28 Tanith BELBIN / Benjamin AGOSTO
Red for her, with cut out back and sides, reaching up for high collar, and sleeve on one arm, he’s all in black, jacket and trousers… Chris mentioned in warm up there was some talk from commentators, esp in free, about the content of their dance and that it could be improved on technically… salsa, rhumba, cha cha… shake and spin at centre ice… and off they go with lots of speed… steps along the diagonal… nice use of the music, and good changes of speed and level and edge… and slow part, he lets her lean against him and dips her… she drops to the splits and up she comes again, bump and grind at centre ice… step around, and down the ice, selling it for all that are worth.. lift with her up high, then drop down to waist level…. Spin with her in layback, change position to her in camel him in sit… to the boards, straight line step… shimmy… and a bit more and off we go… great unison… twizzles are faboo… lift with her in splits with leg on his shoulder, change of position and rotational lift this is, and dips back on him and they’re done. Americans are on their feet and they liked that… so did Tanith and Ben! Simon reminds us of Tanith’s pedigree and accuses the Canadian fans of divided loyalties… the two of them praise Ben’s skating…Chris says he’s got the best job in the world, “selling her, not that she needs it really.” He calls their midline step sensational… use of edges, loved how they kept momentum going…
Marks TE 30.47 PCS 29.18 and that’s … 59.65 and 97.24 they drop! They are fourth! French are third…oh me oh my… people are shaking their head Simon says…
29 Margarita DROBIAZKO / Povilas VANAGAS LTU 5 36.52
Another red dress with many cut outs, and he is all in black, with sparkles of piping on the back and sleeves… samba rhumba cha cha, spinning head!!! Breathe in… lots of stepping at centre ice… steps around… and down to straight line… seem far apart? She falls all over the place on her twizzles, gets weight everywhere but where it should be… dance spin, her in biellman like position, change of position… music changes… slower now, and more sultry section… he dips her and glides with her… lift where she’s upside down, holding one leg to head, he’s going forward on one foot… steps around…twizzles, and this the diagonal step… nicely done… and change music, and they cha cha for their lives… lots of turns in the steps, from both of them… lift with her doing splits parallel to the ice… and he spins her, puts her down, and step a bit more and they’re done. I want to see those twizzles again… Simon and Chris don’t think it as good as top 4, Chris calls it rough around the edges, says Margarita not on form, says she looked off on the second set of twizzles on midline step, couple of times didn’t have the weight over the skate and looked uncomfortable…
Marks TE 30.54 PCS 29.06 59.60 and 96.12 and they’re fifth. Which I am ok with.
30 Melissa GREGORY / Denis PETUKHOV
Say it with me…bright orange/red with many cut outs, and he’s all in black, with many sparkles on the back of the shirt, deep V on the chest, sparkles piping down the leg, high collar… I swear, do the girls have trouble picking out their partner? They’re all dressed the flippin’ same!!!! Apart from Isabelle and Olivier that is… but I digress… ok, my head still spinning but no so much… cha cha rhumba mambo… steps where he spins her at centre ice… eyeing up the judges so that they see his pretty ponytail… and to the boards for straight line step… good but one seems to be twizzling faster than the other, he stumbled a little on second set of twizzles? Went end to end though… and off we go again, in the diagonal step thinks I… or perhaps not… and not. Steps along the rink, and the lift, him in besti, her at hip level, skate to head… out of that, and around the rink in steps, and change music…. Lift rotational with her parallel to ice held well out from him… dance spin her with skate to head, change position with him in sit her in camel and out of that and they are done. Simon wonders how you can split that between Sinead and John and that… Chris thinks she looked off near the end of program, change of hand hold where she looked uncomfortable and nearly slipped, he thinks these will benefit from going at end of the evening… and the judges have to compare that to Sinead and John who skated so early… Chris admits his bias but thinks that the Kerrs were better…
