father tears his world apart, she hugs him, makes him feel better.

not Harry Conroy’s words, gets him up off the dirt over the Kevin Kahn
videotape thing.
She’s the
first, the only one he tells about running for election; her reaction is total
support.
He fires a
campaign worker to defend her honour, but she never looks at him like she looks
at Josh.
He doesn’t
stand a cat in hell’s chance with her; he shouldn’t even think about it.
