He hates her politics, the polar opposite of his. Hates that they can never discuss politics, an unnatural state for both of them. Hates that they have to be on guard with one another.

He hates the fact that they have to keep their relationship secret because he hates to think what people would say, what they'd think, if they knew.

He hates the way that other men look at her, like some blonde Republican sex kitten, hates that he can't tell them to stop, hates that he doesn't have that right.

But he loves her.

That's all that matters.
