She’s said it before, but as Ainsley sits in her apartment, watching the states turn blue, she swears that this time she really means it.

Tomorrow, she’s going to call him.

She’s going to swallow her pride, punch in the number she still knows by heart, and she’s going to call him. She’ll congratulate him on his vice-presidency, she’ll tease him a little (she always did) and she might, if she’s very brave, suggest they meet up.

She might even tell him that she misses him, that she still loves him.

Tonight she’ll rehearse what to say.

Tomorrow, she’ll call.
